The Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's Barcelona Day Bed is a high quality reproduction in the style of the original design.
Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's Barcelona Day Bed (1930) was added to his Barcelona Collection in the year following the introduction of the Chair and Stool. Still produced to his original specifications, the couch gained widespread popularity in 1953, when architect Philp Johnson selected it for his New York apartment. As with the rest of his Barcelona collection, each square of the leather upholstery is carefully welted together by hand. It is a timeless collectible piece which is undeniably elegant which looks great at home or the office.
The entire Barcelona Collection was recognised by the Museum of Modern Art in 1977, almost half a century after it was first introduced to the world. Today, more than 30 years after that, the Barcelona Day Bed remains a beautiful and luxurious way to add modernist style to any interior.
