The PK 22 lounge chair, one of the first pieces designed by Kjaerholm, tests the limits of the cantilever or tension construction. PK-22 easy chair is an extension of a chair which Kjrholm designed for his final examination at the College of Danish Design in 1951.
The original version the frame is welded. In the new version Kjaerholm exploits the light and simple construction of the frame that enables him to separate it in three: one for the legs, a cross brace and a side member - all of them eaily industrially produced. The second phase, when the chair needs to be assembled, is done by hand. The constructive principle of the frame laid the foundation of Kjaerholm's later furniture.
The name Poul Kjaerholm is only used to describe the characteristics of the goods made to the original design, and not as a trade mark.
